August 20th, 2017 I moved into college. More specifically, the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. I'm currently living my dream and best life. Im going to my dream school in my dream city, what more can you ask for? This blog series is dedicated to the ups, downs and in-betweens of my college experience.

Much to my surprise, my move-in went extremely smoothly. Despite having to leave my house at 4:30 in the morning that is. All of my belongings were in my room and mostly set up by 9:30, off to a great start. Later on, Emma stopped by to help me hang miscellaneous photos, art and posters on my walls. Being one of the sweetest, most generous people I know, they also brought me a succulent, which earlier in the day I had planned on going out to buy. I went on about my day, and later ended up at my first college event. Drag queen bingo. I actually did get bingo, but my anxious self didn't go up to claim my prize of a $10 laundry gift card , which would've been really nice. I later went to shower, and there was no hot water. I had to take a VERY quick shower, as my lips were turning purple. End of day one.

My second day started off with waking up exactly when I needed to, with no alarm. This was 7:30am. Why I woke up? I have no idea. I ate breakfast in the dining hall, and much to my surprise the food was delicious, I had pancakes, potatoes and orange juice. I was very happy. The first activity of the day was just finding our orientation groups, and doing ice breaker activities. I hate ice breaker activities. We got these godawful orange shirts that say "I <3 FIT" and had to wear them for a good portion of the day. This would've been totally fine if I hadn't worn a t-shirt dress. As the massive groups we walked to Hammerstein Ballroom for our orientation welcome presentation. We then made our way back to the school where we were greeted with free drinks, my favorite was the tangerine lemonade (it's from Tropicana, I highly recommend it). I was also able to make a tiger stuffed animal, Build-a-Bear style, with an FIT shirt. It was then around time for the solar eclipse, which I had a perfect view of from my bed. I did venture back out to go to the bookstore, and a random lady urged me to use her eclipse glasses to look. I do have to say it was much cooler through the glasses. Later on, I met up with Emma at Big Daddy's where I had a milkshake and macaroni and cheese. Two of my favorites. I went back with Emma to their apartment, and I got to see the neon sign for Sonder, along with any of the physical artwork that has been delivered. I eventually made it back to my dorm, and facetimed Janis to give her the grand tour of the dorm. It was all over the place. At this point, day two came to an end.

Day three was very underwhelming, for the most part. I woke up relatively early and checked into orientation, only to get the free lanyard and water bottle, and had breakfast. I then went back to my room, and just hung out. Everything was all fine and well until I got very lonely and anxious and just cried for a solid two hours. Now, I have showered, in freezing cold water again and am writing this post as it is thunder storming.
